Anti-choice organizations known as so-called "crisis pregnancy centers” (CPCs) often pose as comprehensive health centers, but frequently misinform, mislead, and manipulate women facing an unintended pregnancy about their reproductive health-care options.
CPCs are not new. They have been in operation for decades, growing their ranks to 4,000 across the country – including more than 40 in Maryland.
They have become bigger, more formidable, well-resourced, and professional. In recent years, CPCs have turned their attention to young women, women of color, and non-native English speaking women.
That's why NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Fund has made educating our communities about CPC's a top priority.
Throughout the year, we will collaborate with students and community leaders from across the state in a Tour to Expose Fake Clinics. Each tour stop will include a free screening of the award-winning film 12th & Delaware followed by a discussion. The film follows activity on a quiet street corner in Florida where a women's health clinic stands across from a CPC. The film doesn't take a position on choice - it starts a conversation.
